History

History
Skim Invasion was created in October of 2003 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida by Frank Hastings. Frank Hastings wanted to change everything about contests from judging, scoring, image, and the overall attitude of contests in general to the skimboarding public. The Northwest Florida Skim Invasion (now called the Navarre Skim Invasion) was the inaugural event for Skim Invasion. For the next four years Skim Invasion’s focus was on this one event on the panhandle. Frank was tinkering the rules and regulations, which are now used by several organizations world wide. In 2007, William Roberts joined the team to run the the day to day operations of Skim Invasion. In 2009, Skim Invasion brought it’s mission outside the panhandle of Florida with building new events in Vilano Beach, Florida, Wellfleet, Massachusetts, and Tybee Island, Georgia. Also in 2009, Skim Invasion launched Skim Academy, which is a educational based organization that runs camps by professional skimboarders. In late 2009, Skim Invasion launched a global retail distribution arm of the company that deals in skimboarding products.
